Brazilian choreographer Dagô R. transforms the stage into a space of shared responsibility: a body, suspended by the group’s trust, experiences the sharing of weight. An immersive experience in which vulnerability and support become the fabric of the choreography.
To unload can mean to set down, to entrust, to confess. In this piece, the verb becomes a shared action. In this new work, Dagô R. explores the notion of ‘dead weight’—that which weighs us down, hinders us, and overflows. But here, the weight is embodied. It is the body itself that becomes the burden to be carried. Amidst the audience, DÉCHARGEMENT. who carries? unfolds like an open score, the composition of which depends on the presences involved. How can an overload be transformed into a space for connection? The question calls not for a theoretical answer, but for a practical exploration. In this shared space, each audience member can take an active role, becoming a witness, a conduit, a surface or a support, and influence the course of the experience. By inviting everyone to take part in the effort, DÉCHARGEMENT. who carries? opens up a critical space where responsibility is no longer an abstract principle, but a shared construction, experienced in the present.
