Description
Driven by the passion of two Palestinian choreographers, Amir Sabra and Ata Khatab, ten performers reinvent the Palestinian dabké through a collective energy in which resistance and celebration merge into a powerful, joyful and vital cry of life.
The title is a deliberate reversal of “dabké”, the name of a traditional Palestinian dance, and the starting point for the performance.
Drawing on traditional dabké, contemporary dance, hip-hop, capoeira and circus arts, the Palestinian artists present a contemporary take on this dance, which was originally reserved for wedding celebrations.
