Description
Blending stand-up comedy and late-night radio, Eric Berryman and Jharis Yokley bring the “Toasts”-African American storytelling traditions that paved the way for rap—back to life. Vocals and drums intertwine in a vibrant performance in which the Wooster Group reinvents oral history.
In partnership with the Festival d’Automne in Paris.
The lecture applies the famous theory of the ‘king’s two bodies’ to the President of the United States. It raises a fundamental question about the human and biological aspects of the exercise of the presidential office.
Lecture given as part of the series of events on the social sciences organised by the EHESS, ‘Que se passe-t-il ?’
Initiated by EHESS, the ‘What’s going on ?’ series originated in the libraries of the City of Paris. These scientific and cultural events, organised close to the public, provide a space for reflection on contemporary issues of interest to citizens.
An open conversation with an EHESS researcher – a sociologist, historian, geographer or anthropologist – to foster democratic debate…
Building on the success of two previous seasons, the ‘Que se passe-t-il ?’ series is now taking place in iconic cultural and creative venues. It is within this framework that EHESS is partnering with La Commune d’Aubervilliers to offer this shared moment of encounter and creativity – where the humanities and social sciences intersect with the performing arts.
