A mythical place anchored in the Dionysian heritage!
Built for the 1998 FIFA World Cup, this stadium is one of the great architectural works of the 20th century. The organization by France of this football world cup required the presence of equipment with 80,000 seats. The state chooses the city of Saint-Denis to build this new stadium. This choice was not made without compensation for the city, extension of metro line 13 to the university, development of Porte de Paris station, creation of a new RER station on line D , relocation of the old station which is too dilapidated and too small on line B, coverage of the A1 motorway, construction of an “annex stadium” for the use of the city of Saint-Denis. Michel Régembal and Claude Costantini's project was chosen from over 15 proposals. The site chosen is land formerly occupied by gasometers, so characteristic of the landscape of this industrial suburb. After 31 months of construction, the stadium was inaugurated on January 28, 1998.

It is the largest modular stadium, able to hold 80,000 to 100,000 spectators depending on its configuration. It hosts internationally renowned sporting events, as well as concerts, operas and entertainment for the general public.

It is also open to visits by individuals or groups every day except during events. He launched a dynamic for the development of this district of La Plaine, which has not been denied to this day.
