Le 6b

Where creation dances on the quays

Looking for an artistic venue, a place to party or a great local restaurant? Just a stone’s throw from Saint-Denis station, on the banks of the canal, you’ll find a building that doesn’t look like much, but which bubbles with life as soon as you walk through the door. Le 6B is the kind of place where you say to yourself “look, I’ve come to have a look” and end up remaking the world. Here, culture has its feet firmly planted in the concrete and its head in the clouds.

What is 6b?

A 7,000m2 cultural creation space in a large industrial building on the banks of the Seine in Saint-Denis! If we had to list the activities on offer, we could say that it’s a workplace for nearly 200 artists and craftspeople, a place to work, a shared garden, a beach, a restaurant-canteen and a cultural and popular place to vibrate, reflect and have fun. It’s also a cultural and popular space where you can vibrate, reflect and have fun with the events organised throughout the year. In short, a raw, living space with a soul like few other places have.

Culture and creativity

In this rapidly changing part of Seine-Saint-Denis, 6B has established itself as a kind of cultural beacon. It shows that creativity can flourish outside the traditional circuits, and it is this freedom that is its strength. The venue federates, unites and connects. It is home to a community of artists, craftspeople, architects, dancers, musicians, designers and cultural collectives who bring the building to life on a daily basis.

The residents are more than just passers-by: they work there, experiment and build long-term projects. Residents come here to discover another facet of their city, one that’s livelier and more open. Projects are born, and so are collaborations. It’s a real beehive, where everyone has their place and everyone contributes a little honey to the whole.

A place to celebrate

6B is also one of the most creative party spots in Greater Paris! There’s dancing, singing and debating. There’s something joyously unpredictable about the atmosphere. Here, disciplines meet without fuss. A concert can be held alongside an exhibition, a lecture can slide into a jam, and a simple shared drink can become the starting point for a collective project. It’s this raw, sincere mix that creates the magic of the venue, which hosts Open Air events during the day and club nights until 6am!

A place to eat, talk and share

At 6B, we also know that creativity works best on a full stomach. So we’ve settled in to Ciboulette, a cocoon where the produce is local, in season, and sometimes picked from the adjoining garden! Open Monday to Friday from 12.30pm to 2pm, the restaurant has become a real meeting place. People come here to eat, of course, but also to exchange ideas or simply to enjoy the peace and quiet by the canal.

A corner of nature

At the heart of the site nestles a little green gem: the Jardin pédagogique et nourricier du 6B. Imagine the former car park of the industrial plant converted into a vast field where vegetables, herbs and fruit grow . It’s not just a spot of nature on the banks of the canal, but a testing ground for ecological gardening workshops, school visits and cultural events that combine plants and music, curiosity and conviviality. In short, while the artists work indoors, nature puts on a show outside.

Where is it? I really want to go!
